It’s the escape game I’ve always wanted to make.

Later, Morgan Freeman’s “The Shawshank Redemption” continued to pique my interest in this theme, and so, being a huge fan of Carcassonne, I began to envision a modular tile placement mechanic as the foundation for my upcoming game, Fled— based on historic Spike Island prison off the coast of Ireland! I wanted dual-purpose tiles that could be played to form the prison or traded to secure escape tools. A few iterations later, my playtesting group and I routinely sneak down corridors, sidestep pesky warders and secure the artifacts we need to escape!
I reached out to renowned board game artist, Klemens Franz out of the blue to see if he might be interested in doing the art. To my surprise, he knew me as the designer of Feudum, and said he’d be delighted. And so, the journey began! I tapped into a few of Uwe Rosenberg’s playtesters, including Julian Steindorfer, to help me test and develop the game. I also reached out to designer, Seth Jaffee (Crusaders: Thy Will Be Done) for some expert development advice.
I am thrilled to report that I am getting closer and closer to a Kickstarter campaign. For now, you can take a look at some of the art on Fled’s entry on BoardGameGeek.
